A New Way To Read

I can start with the situation.

I was sitting there in a meeting at work. Now this was not just any meeting, it was a meeting that did not need me there. People thought I needed to be there, but nay; I did not.

So what was I to do for 2 hours?

Yes 2 hours...

While a was droning and falling asleep, I decided right then and there - I must create my own language and writing script.

And so I started creating the characters which was the basis of what has slowly evolved and grew into grammar and a numerical system. Pronunciations are still being filtered out as what I originally had sounded disgusting and couldn't roll off the tongue.

I have begun to put the entire evolution of the language in a very nifty book.

In this book, I have developed how to write sentence structure, create headings, show dates, and references to nouns. It is still a work in progress.

Here is an example:

Damn the Rain....

The rain in the Lower mainland is dumb.

Yup...

The explanation is simple, It screwed me over from seeing the eclipse yesterday. All over the west coast of the US saw it, the Midwest saw it, and the Lower Mainland, Canada?

Nope.

It decided to start raining that morning and continues to heavily rain until about the evening today.

I missed a rare eclipse all because the weather had a stick up it's ass.

Yup... Fuck you weather of the Lower Mainland, fuck you.

Here is what I missed and can only see from the inter webs...

The Need for Support

I've come to the conclusion that I need career advice. I have no Idea as to where I am going and where my heading is. I used to have a goal and a heading, but that was blatantly shot in the foot.

Needless to say, the support group that helped me move up has moved on. Those that had a plan for me and with me have long since left and I am stranded in a position where I don't have my 'Yang'. I am only half as effective without my 'Yang'.

I can clarify about my 'Yang'. That 'Yang' was a co-worker and friend of mine, Mike Palmer. During my early years in QA it was me and him supporting development. We sat next to each other and supported each other. If I didn't know something, Palmer would know and vice versa. We learned our weaknesses and learned from them and so we grew and took on more responsibilities. My weaknesses weren't always my weaknesses as we would share knowledge and fill the gaps in our skills.

Needless to say, he moved into another team and started setting up shop and success there while I moved into a profession completely alien to me. He stayed in his support base and knowledge base, I moved into a position I knew I wanted to go into but had absolutely no idea what I was doing or what was needed of me. I also had no support base. Every mistake was a glaring sore, every under performance was treated and inspected as a bacterial infection. I had no clue that I had no chance and no one took me to the side and told me what I should be doing, well not until it was far too late. I was told I was not allowed to stay in the position then they told me what was wrong and went that was that.

I slaved for hours to the best of my knowledge, being grotesquely underpaid, all in the hopes of being hired full time. This was to no avail. I did what was needed of me then pushed out the door. I moved from QA to Development, then back to QA. I had no real choice. No one was even looking at my resume, I never even got my foot into an interview position. (I can probably blame my crappy networking skills for that.)

I had no choice but to move back into QA, but with my senority and what I thought were my skills sets, I moved into a more project manager position. I may be able to do the job, I like the team, but I have no passion for the position; and this affects my performance. I commonly find myself not knowing what questions need to be asked and sometimes get caught in a reactionary for instead of a proactive form.

Long story short, I need career advice on how to find another 'Yang' or how I can improve without one, because as of right now, I am listless and lost; aimlessly wandering through the position trying not to fail the team. This, some may agree, is not the best situation to be in.

I must remain positive though, and with that note....

laziness or Goals...

I am trying to set goals for myself and in doing so I've learn very valuable lessons.

1 - If the goal results in me becoming accountable for someone else - Example in the office - I get the objective done as I don't want to let other people down or the team down.
2 - Creating goals for my own personal benefit, I tend to let it slide unless I'm held accountable.

I don't know why I do that to myself, I work hard for other people but can't muster the energy to finish anything for myself. I am not held accountable and I need to be. So as of right now, if anyone reads these, I am writing a book and should be scheduled to be finished (ie. first draft) done by end of November.

I can post my daily or weekly updates about the progress of that novel on my "Novel Pending" blog. If there is no updates, try and keep me accountable and send evil emails at me (iantorn@gmail.com) or my twitter (Ian_Torn) calling me out. If I hate disappointing others, shame me and get me back to the work table.

Now for more distractions before I get my nose down to work and earn my 9-5 pay check.

But first..... Baby Seals!

Value of Social Media

I am starting to learn a valuable lesson - Social Media is important.

I thought I could get away from that and not have to touch it all that much; I always thought "Hey, I don't need this. Social Media is for Extroverted people who want to blab on about nothing."

Ya, about that... I need to start blabbing about nothing more often it seems.

To those that know me, I am an introvert. I love to think, imagine, and reflect on everything. Those that don't know me, I believe, think I'm just anti-social and a hermit. Now I'm not saying being a hermit is a bad thing, it's just that I'm not anti-social. I just don't like large groups or feel that ranting about nothing is useful.

Apparently people learn a lot from rants about nothing. I'm not a psychiatrist, but some people are or at least have training in the field. Rants tell a lot about people. Probably it says a lot about me when I keep calling them rants, but I'm not sure what.

Going back to my first statement - The value of Social media.

I have been reading a pretty good book recently - A dance of Dragons. It's a pretty good tale so far, I do so love Tyrion.

I have also been reading a fantastic book as well - The Introvert's Guide to Success in Business and Leadership By Lisa Petrilli. I am learning about how social media is one of the best ways to reach out as an introvert in the world of business. This is something that never actually clicked, mostly because I never knew how to properly use it so I threw it off as useless.

For all you introverts out there who wish to get at least a heading on to where to go to move up the ladder, I suggest you pick this book up. I am not yet done this book and already I have pulled some helpful knowledge.

Now I shall end today's post with the biggest and best celebrities on the internet.... Kittens.

Enjoy =D

Beginning Going well

Well,

Today marks the 3rd short story I've written. They seem to be getting darker and darker.

The first one, Glacial Life, is about the loneliness and the hardships bestowed upon us and how we grown and learn to deal with them. We don't change them, we adapt to them. The feeling of powerlessness and how, from my perspective, we just learn to accept and live how we have always known to live. I find that this not only reflects me, but many of the people I work with and live with.

The second short story, Cycle of Humanity, shows how we grow and learn. Again from my perspective. Many of us learn to resist what is forced upon us. And in resisting and never forgiving, we soon do onto others as was done onto us. This happens even without us even knowing that this is even happening. We try so hard not to become our parents or teachers that we end up becoming them. We lie to ourselves far too many times to be able to see what we are actually doing.

The third story, (Todays post because I forgot to post it yesterday) Deceit, shows how we believe our own destinies and ambitions. It is a bit more risqué, but it does show the point that we believe what we are doing, without a shadow of a doubt, is the right thing. We do not ask enough questions about ourselves and we believe that we will always be doing what the world needs of us. if we accept more points of view and criticism, we will avoid many atrocities that will befall our character.

Three different stories, three different perspectives, all my opinions. This is what I have seen in people and, most eye opening, myself.

As I watch people and learn about myself through this exercise, I'm pretty sure more things of personal nature will arise. I ask all those who read this. Look at yourself and the world around you. Ask questions everyday about yourself and your situation. Answer will arise and you will, for the most part, become better people for it.

forgive everyone, know the lies you tell yourself and strive to better yourself spiritually.

Start of my Plan

I started my first short story that I will be posting every Sunday on my Novel Pending blog.
(Found here: http://novelpending.blogspot.com/)

I will continue to write a short story, no matter how long, and post it every Sunday of every week. This is one small step in a goal for me to improve my writing skills and habits. I hope this works out. I have a tendency to go for a little bit, then stop cause I don't want to do it anymore. But I will practice a good habit. I have wanted to write for a long time but never took it up. Now is my chance and I cannot be allowed to falter.

So I press forward. On with my dream. May good things come.

~Cheers

3 Blogs, new writing

I have started on 2 other blogs now to target 2 areas of my life. This will be a lot of work, but it will be worth it in the end.

I will return to my reviews and my randomness in the coming days. Watch out for it. You may even see a vlog. OOooooooo Scary! my face on the internets.

That`ll be something to see.

Cheers,

The Canadian Century: Moving out of America's Shadow

The book was created as an outlet for the Macdonald-Laurier Institute and authored by Brian Lee Crowley, Jason Clemens and Niels Velhius.

I saw this item from the corner of my eye in Chapters. For some odd reason it called to me. The little patriotic voice deep down within me told me to purchase this book. This was a spontaneous purchase that I had not regretted. The message received from this book was one of worry, regret, hope, inspiration and the need for change.

As I settled down and began to read, I was slightly enticed yet bored. It started off with a brief history lesson about the ideals of Sir Wilfred Laurier, a man from the beginning of the century and his vision of Canada, or what will become Canada. His vision was of how the 20th century would be Canada’s century. His dream was nought, or at least for the next 80 years.

The premise hooked me. The facts and numbers and calculations did bore me at the beginning. However, there was something within this brief history lesson. The small, normally quiet, patriotic soul within me kept pulling me forward. I listened to the voice and to my surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Though there are areas of this book I do not agree with and some areas that do not go far enough, it outlines some very solid plans that can make Canada a pretty strong economic superpower. The 3 main messages received were, smaller government, smarter taxation and balancing the budget.

With the discussion of smaller government makes sense. Cut back on government dependencies and stop supporting mediocrity. It goes through some length about the great reforms on welfare and the lack of movement on healthcare. This section hit my beliefs squarely on the mark. Living in British Columbia, I have seen firsthand what happens when government holds the hands of its citizens. They become mediocre, sluggish and lazy. They expect the world to drop at their feet and refuse to pay a dime for any of it. They take no risks or do any more effort than what is expected. They don’t try to the best of their abilities. I am not saying all British Colombians are like this, but from my 4 years in the lower mainland, it is evident what big governments do to the citizens. This of course was brought on by the NDP Party. There is no reward for hard work. I must admit I too am losing some of my work effort seeing as it does not get me ahead.

Smaller government and high incentive to take risks, invest and expand the overall entrepreneurial-ism of the state is the best way to reward hard work. There is too much red tape, taxes and politics in the areas of business and investment in British Columbia. Far too much for a low income person, like myself, to work around and get ahead while being able to pay my rent. This section of the book hit me close to home. It also bled into the second section, smarter taxation.

This book was well informative of all the stupid taxes that are costing businesses money, which in turn they pass the higher prices to the consumer. I too once hated the HST which was coming into this province. Instead of seeing only what the HST was doing, this book showed me what the HST was stopping. The HST was working on making taxes easier to do under one harmonized system. It is an ugly tax because it’s the tax we see every day. But in the long run, it will be a far cheaper and more manageable tax then the hidden tax on many businesses and industrial goods. There are a lot more taxes out there that cause this country and province more harm than good and people don’t care because they can’t see it. It never gets brought up because most people don’t know of their existence. And it is because of these taxes that governments don’t get the revenue they need, thus the deficit spending. The third topic is brought on by this, balancing the Budget.

Laurier didn’t want this nation to do any deficit spending, as it causes the nation to go into debt. With debt come interest payments, the more interest payments made, the less actual money the government has to spend on necessary programs, thus needing to borrow more. This becomes a downward spiral of all three points. Higher deficit means higher taxes which means bigger government and so forth.

There have been great reforms in this country, by the Chretien government and the Provinces of Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan. The whole premise of the book is to keep this nation on Laurier’s plan for the nation. When we follow the path, prosperity comes. When we stray from the path we find deficit and recession. The Harper government, during the recession, tried to hold the ground and keep Canada on the path. But the Dion Liberals, Layton’s NDP and Duceppe’s Bloc we threatening a non confidence vote if he didn’t start deficit spending in the form of stimulus packages. We have now begun to falter from the path of Laurier due to politics and power hungry MP’s.

This book has brought forth many interesting details about the government and how easily people are deceived or mislead. As I have said, there are some viewpoints I do not agree with and some parts of the book that do not go far enough in their thinking. However, I base this book on the ability to make me think and re-evaluate my life. This book did its job and more. It got me thinking “How can I improve some of these ideas?”

The one only drawback of this book is it did not go deep enough. The authors tried to stick to facts and examples without exploring further possibilities and expanding Laurier's work. It needed to speak to the soul a little more to turn the ember into a roaring firestorm. Instead it took the ember and made a nice cozy cooking fire. I did not receive the urgency from which this message needs.

The opportunity for Canada is now and I advise anyone and everyone to read this book. We all need to move toward higher education about all our situations. You will not be disappointed.

A Day In The Office

Well...hmmm there apparently is this massive time lapse from the last time I blogged.

I am now working as a QA something at EAC (Electronic Arts Canada)

I have no idea what my job title is and I am still at a loss of words as to what it entails.

I've been doing this for a little over a month now.

I'm not entirely hired by EAC i'm contracting to them through VMC.

It's a confusing process which means I have a lot of responsibility and a work load that could kill a donkey with a wonderful wage of $11/hour.

Beautiful I know right?

I'm doing what I can to get a wider step into the glorious world of Video Games.
(And a new computer as mine died as I said earlier I think...can't quite remember and far to lazy to look back and read if I mentioned it.)

I've missed so many funny and care free stories I've wanted to post.
(In funny and care free I mean rip my hair out frusteration and clubbing baby seals fun)

Blogging at work is hard and not recommended. People assume that you have nothing to do so they give you more work and then the original point of the matter is lost.

Anywho with my long hibernating blog fingers, I will sign off for today...

Damn you EA for making me forget my point...

And to think, people other then me (most of the time) do their jobs and work. Why does beauracracy have to work sometimes and not just fail or succeed.

Shrew Brained

Hello all!

It has been far too long since I wrote in my blog. I have a mind of a Shrew right now as my attention to things wonders off and I start new things.

I have also been busy banging my face against a large brick wall called programming. It is something that I find most stressful. Because of it I have not been able to have enough time to publish me new web comic nor fix up some design docs for review. I have however started writing a book. I jot down a few paragraphs while on the bus. Doing so made me think, I desperately need a laptop to be able to do my work on transit. That would give me a good 3 hours of work almost daily.

I am going to start putting my book on another blog chapter by chapter in hopes that people will read it. Also if I get my job at volt, I can start spewing about QA online. Not about the game itself but about the processes that happen. It's often hysterical what goes on behind closed doors in the QA lab. I shall create a third blog there.

And if anyone out there wants to give me lessons on objective C please feel free to teach me. I want to start making Iphone apps so my skills both as a programmer and designer don't rust.

Anywho, till another time.

New Everything!

Well it's incredibly early in the morning and a great amount of ideas sprang forth as well as a few realisms.

First: I am incredibly rusty on reviews and how to do them properly. I want to take personal pictures of the games and use them for examples but I don't know how and I don't want to constantly use GOOGLE.

Second: My website needs to be redesigned again because I have not had positive impressions on it. Back to the drawing board. Hopefully I'll make something easier on the eyes.

Third: I am learning how to customize a blog for mine is very boring to look at. no pictures with a standard template...bleeh.

Fourth: I am starting a web comic, and I realised I can't draw, so it's going to take a lot of practice to mimic my girlfriends style. That way I can draw my own stuff and not have it overly suck hard.

Fifth: My computer is dying... need a new one.

Sixth: I am starting to stop procrastinate. Hurrah for me. I'm getting into the just do it attitude even though I want to be a lazy bum.

Seventh: I MISS WORKING!!! I WANT TO GO TO WORK!!!

Eighth: There is so much on my plate it's ridiculous. I want a job in the industry so bad. However from the feedback I keep getting, that is going to be close to impossible with what I'm showing now.

I really wish someone would have the guts to come to me and tell me what the hell I keep doing wrong. Nobody does and they keep it to themselves or they talk about it when I'm gone and they don't tell me anything. I end up having to find out the hard way and am stuck struggling to fix it. Like my website.

I know my demo reel looks like crap, but from advice from some people they told me just learn to sell it. I wasted 6 months digging a hole for myself and no one told me.

I am now looking at what I have and what I need and almost everything needs to change. I am going to work my butt to the bone to get what I need done. And for those that read this, please god tell me if something I'm doing is wrong. I'll learn way faster if someone points that out to me. If nobody does, I'll think what I'm doing is right and that will just kill all chances I have for going into the industry I am so passionate about.

It is slightly disheartening that out of all the people I've talked to and all the resumes and calls I've put out I've got nothing. No calls for an interview, not even a call or email of rejection. Absolute silence.

I am going to keep trucking though, Keep my goal in my eyes. I'll just reshape the path of how I'm going to get there.

Anyways,

Goodnight all.

Back and Starting on the New Year

Well I'm back from holidays and back in school. I am learning programming... and math... I hate math... but I love programming. Very weird I know. I guess the reason is putting math to practice instead of doing boring equations.

With in 20 minutes I managed to get a random monster encounter chart working using good old 'srand()time' stuff with the 'if' and 'else if' comments.

It's pretty fun overall.

I have started working on game reviews. Namely for LittleBigPlanet right now. I was going to write one for when I beat unsung heros, however I got LBP for Christmas and I have been playing at my friend Julia's house. My PS3 broke on the plane and will cost me $150 to fix. I am saddend.

I will have more to comment on a later date. I really should work on getting this review done and proofread and stuff. It's really hard trying to keep focused when I have mounds of homework waiting for me.

I guess I'll update tomorrow night.

Game Reviewing

Well I've been thinking. I study and love games. I thought "Hey, I should become a game reviewer in these industry tough times."

Then it occurred to me. How do I become a game reviewer? I could just buy the latest games and start reviewing them and put down the ups and downs of each one. Then another thought occurred to me. I have now money to do so. Nor do I know how to start. How should I scale it? How could I review what everyone else knows?

As I'm writing this i'm also thinking. Should I just give my two cents about the game? Try to break down the mechanics of the game and say what works and what doesn't?

I need a forums put up or I could see if Jason Elliott would put something like that on the design section of the forums of the Artery.

I should start a small discussion on the mechanics of each game and build a forum off of the discussions of these game mechanics. Personal reviews from the point of a designer that can rate a game not from it's face value, but from the knowledge of the back end of the game. Rate it based on it's quality compared to the price and how long the game was in development.

Another question raises. How am I going to get the funds to start such an endeavor? I need proper training or tutorials on how to build websites, PHP or SQL.

Due to student loans possibly not coming into effect in time, I may not be going to school again as a programmer. I'll need to get a mundane job and work on stuff at home.

I don't even know how to start an online business. I just realized that. What books can I read that will teach me that? The more I think I can do stuff on my own and force myself into the industry, the more i realize how intricate the industry is and the more I get confused and have to learn.

Getting into the industry is such a heavy rock on my shoulders I'm to stubborn to drop. I'm to stubborn to drop it because I want it to much. I want to be a part of the creation of games. I love the feeling of working with a team to creation something so many people will enjoy. It's the thought of accomplishment and the thought of people playing and loving something I was a part of. To know that a creation I was a part of is giving enjoyment to someone out there. I know I love playing them and games bring me a lot of enjoyment.

I'm on kongregate daily to see what small developers have produced and I play all the small games. From puzzles to shooters to RPG's to music games.

Which reminds me. I bought a game for the iPod classic. Song Summoner: The unsung heros. The concept I found was truly intriguing. I think that game shall be my first review. I wanted to write a little about it now but I want to finish the game before I give my review. So far it's fun and a good game for the price.

Usually I go off randomly with random topics and have to force myself back on topic, but it looks like I naturally came full circle back to my original topic. I will start writing reviews. Put them on forums and some other places because I can. It will at least give me practice for game mechanics and gameplay.

This may be my last blog for the holidays it may not be. So just in case, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy New years.

Internet is my Friend

I had my internet disconnected and that's why there are no updates. I wanted to rant about this coalition thing happening in our good old Canadian government. And I still kind of will.

I am very angry with the supporters of the coalition because this is going to do absolutely nothing for our nation. They think that this is a great idea and abuse anyone who doesn't think so. What they don't know is Ottawa politics. All the other parties want is power and they're using Harper's harsh economic policies as the cataclysm.

What people don't realize is that the Conservative party is the one most effected by this policy. The NDP and liberals immediately accused Harper of attacking democracy all because money was going to be taken out of their pockets. I come from Alberta and know first hand how selfish the liberal parties are.

We finally have a small foundation to stop the economic crisis and the selfish Ottawa parties pull this crap all because they lost another election. Now nothing is still going to get done because people are stupid. They don't realize that this is going to hurt our situation far more than they will ever benefit.

NDP destroyed the province of British Columbia's economy completely and now they wish to destroy the national economy. In Alberta we laugh at the NDP and still use B.C. as a harsh example in the failures of government. And the liberals just want to suck Alberta's money from it's coffers. it is the main income of the country. And I can tell you that the province has been Conservative all my life. It has always been moderately to the right. And it's policies have made it a strong economic powerhouse.

Eastern Canada hates us and think that our policies are completely different than what they are. However we were the first province to legalize gay marriage or union or whatever people want to call it. We have a strong health care system and we're doing it all without taxing the crap out of the citizens.

Other provinces should adopt Alberta's economic policies and become conservative because I've seen nothing but good. Sure there are some problems as every province does, but the good that comes out if it far outweighs them. I've lived in B.C. for 2 years and I've never been surrounded by more lazy people in my life. Vancouver is horrible for the corruption and illegal stuff. And the government does everything in their power to keep the people down. Wellfare is friken ridiculous to get here. they make you go through so many hoops that by the time you get it, you're dead from starvation. If I was a student part time maybe taking one class so I can get ahead in life and needed government help for that. I'm automatically rejected because I'm a student. Doesn't matter how much you make a year it matters on your status and what you're doing. If you miss one of their unemployment meeting because of an emergency, you're cut off. And I'd like to point out that this province is now governed by the Liberals. They implemented these policies and then keep them hidden as much as they can from the media. they pointed out that far less people are on wellfare because of how strong the economy is. Big lie, less people are on wellfare because they were cut off or rejected right out of the gate. That is why homelesnes is on the rise.

Vancouver is also so friken expensive to live because people are so friken greedy here. I was kicked out of my basement suite because I was paying 624 a month for it. My landlady wanted more and wrote up a notice of rent increase 6 months before she was allowed to. I pointed this out to her and the following day she gave me a notice of eviction so she could move in my place and rent her upstairs for more so she could pay for her 3rd condo which cost her 1.5 million. I lost my job because I didn't have a place to stay nor a home address to put on their records. With no job I was denied an apartment I was hoping to move into by mid october. They wanted other applicants for the apartment because I was unemployed. It was a month to month place as well and I had money saved up for the deposit as well as the first months rent. More than enough time to get another job. That was not good enough, so now I'm living with my girlfriends brother and about to go back to school because this economic crisis has made it close to impossible to get a job in my field here and I don't have the funds to move to the states nor move to another city.

Anywho that is my rant, I'm full of frustration and I'm sick and I can't talk so I needed this all out and now I feel better and this is totally a really long run on sentence. Hopefully this is not boring and hopefully people can see my point. Let Harper do what needs to be done so I can have a job and be less angry with people who are stupid and selfish. Thank you and goodnight.

Another day of Breakage

I had fun yesterday. I was playing some Toybot Diaries 2 and zombies tower defence game giving comments and some personal reviews to my buddy Sean. Sean is the friend I graduated college with. He works with Iugo mobile and assists in making games and levels for the iTouch and iPhone.

Well I was playing TBD2 and I found a lot of stuff that I wasn't supposed to find. BTW these small things are far from easy to figure out unless you know how to brute force your way through puzzle games. And to put an afternoon short, I was called a jackass a lot because I kept doing things that weren't supposed to be done. It was fun.

On this one level where you have to magnetize yourself to a bar and find a way to move it out of your path. What is supposed to happen is the bar is moved then gets caught so you can't move it any more. What I did, and Sean got a huge kick out of it, was manage to find a way to take that bar with me through the entire level. I even used it to break some of the death traps. I then completed the level using the bar as skis.

Over all a very fun day. I have an uncanny knack for breaking the physics of games and make some of the most challenging puzzles or obstacles and find the most easiest way of achieving the goal. Which usually means I broke the game. On the other hand, I play the most simple and easy of levels and play them the most difficult way possible until it does what I want it to do. That also causes the game to break. Usually I have to restart from a checkpoint again once I'm done breaking things. There is the occasional time where it'll let me skip so much of the obstacles and grab achievements or collectables incredibly fast.

All my friends have asked me why I haven't gotten into the industry yet with my knack of breaking games and finding major bugs that should have never gotten through to final. I did the same thing testing FIFA09 OTP. I found a major bug that the DEV guys didn't find and it was a major bug that extended my job for another 2 weeks.

Higher EA execs were fuming. Not because the bug was found, but because it was so major and one of their guys didn't find it.

Anywho I have to header again. Grab some FFXI discs. If anyone is reading this I urge you to get Toybot Diaries for the iTouch or iPhone and Zombies. They are incredibly fun and addicting. Also get FIFA09 because it is really fun as well. EA has really improved on its sports titles. There was a day and age where 2K sports were better but the title best sports games is veering towards EA once again.

I should start writing game reviews on my web site or something. But that's just more work on a massive plate I already have. I have also put into pre-production of a flash game of mine. No title as of yet, well no finalized title, but I'll have that posted on my site by next week. Remember to Visit www.IANTORN.com.

Messing Around with Adobe

,,

Well this adobe contribute is a pretty nifty program. I'm testing and learning how to use it at this moment. I always think the best way to learn is to get your hands dirty, so here I am. I have absolutely no clue how to use over half of this adobe stuff and I'm learning as I go because it looks cool.

Bare with me people, I'm a geek to the bone. More importantly, I'm a tech geek. Not some comic book geek or a random gamer geek, but a Tech geek. I love gadgets and programs and would buy every single one if I could. Now to explain things more thoroughly about geeks. Geeks love all things geeky, but there are areas we specialize in. Yes, I'm a game designer because I like games and I could work on them all day. But computers and gadgets and new programs, they feel almost like pets to me. As sad as that is. I could play and tincker with gadgets and computers all day and have fun doing it like I was playing a video game.

I love gadgets!

Now back to this adobe stuff. IT'S SO COOL. So cool in fact that I'm in awe and completely lost. I'm glad I put my urge to test out silver light on hold. CS4 has made things a hell of a lot more organized and it makes me as happy as a kid in a candy store. The only downfall of it however, is the amount of space it takes up on my computer... I desperately need a new computer. I've upgraded mine as far as it can go.

Oh well. I'm off to fiddle around with adobe some more. Next week I'll go dabble in some flash game programming or something. I desperately need to learn that... Also I need to finish designing3 new documents I've been doing. I'll post them up when I'm done with them. They are completely out of my box in terms of design. Well two of them are.

Anywho, I'm off.

My girlfriends tasty buns filled with meat

Well my day started off buying a new pair of pants because my old pairs had holes in the crotches. I met up with my friend Cory who is a short Chinese guy I graduated college with. He's a character modeler.

We came back to my girlfriends place and started a whole day of making Banh Bao which are buns filled with vermicelli and ground pork steamed. My girlfriend is a cute vietnamese woman named Huong but people can't pronounce it properly so her english name is Juno. I never thought asain girls were attractive before and I didn't know why every guy was hyped up about snagging a hot asain chick. However, she grew on me like a cute little puppy you just want to keep. She'll probably bug me about that remark now lol.

Anywho back to my story, I'm getting side tracked. Uhm right Banh Bao (Bang-b-ow). These buns take all day to make. We started making them at 2 and we finished at like 8. 6 long hours. We also made large amounts of cheesy pepperoni stick things. They are soooo good.

The reason we went on this endevour was to feed our friends tomorrow for dungeons and dragons. Yes I play Dungeons and Dragons.... 4th Edition campaign. And yes so does my girlfriend. She plays more hours of games than I do. She's playing Final Fantasy 11 right now, as she does almost every day for like 4 hours. She's getting mad at me and throwing excuses at me.
"I have to check on my plants and my chocobo, gawd!" as she just quoted.

As I go back to my original topic. Those buns and pepperoni things are sooooooooo good. I want another couple. What else did I do today... nothing besides write this out. MY FIRST POST! I R IS PROUD OF MESELF!

Well I'm heading off to bed and play some Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced or should I play Space Empires 5. Now i'm not sure. One this is for certain however, I'm finished blogging. I hope I can eventually get like a good political rant or something, because that would be cool. I may also start some random typings and calling it "Ian's history in a nutshell" Oooo I should totally put audio in it and turn it into a flash. I need to touch up on my flash skills, I'm rusty.

Anyways goodnight to anyone who is reading this...if anybody is... or ever will...
